DAY 1: transfer from Kigali city-volcanoes

In the morning after breakfast, your tour guide will come and pick you up from your preferred place or hotel, have a short briefing and then you will be taken for a city tour in Kigali, visit some historical places like Rwanda genocide memorial center, craft shops among others.

Seeing mountain gorillas in the wild is one of the most remarkable experiences one could ever encounter in life. These endangered species are rare and they can only be found in 3 countries that is; Uganda, Rwanda and democratic republic of Congo.

In Rwanda, you can go for gorilla trekking safaris in volcanoes national park and this where most of the gorilla families are found such as; Agashya family, Sabyinyo family,Hirwa family, Amahoro family,Ugenda family,Bwenge family,Umubano family and Susa A and B among others .

The park has 12 habituated gorilla families and the rest are for research. Each gorilla family can be visited by 8 people every day hence boosting gorilla tourism in Rwanda as well as giving you an awesome and unforgettable experience while on your Rwanda gorilla safari.

Rwanda gorilla trekking permit;

Before planning to do a gorilla trek in volcanoes national park, it is necessary you first book a gorilla permit in advance before the actual date of your track.

Unlike Uganda and DRC whose permits are affordable and cheap at USD600 and USD 400 respectively, Rwanda’s gorilla permits are charged at USD1500 per person and it is throughout all year.

The permits can be obtained from RDB (Rwanda development board) or through a trusted travel agency. In case a tourist shows any kind of illness, 50% of the gorilla trekking fee can be refunded.

However, tourists who are sick are not allowed to participate in this activity because they can easily infect the gorillas.

Best time to visit the park;

The best time to trek gorillas in Rwanda is during dry season that is June-September and December-February in order to give you a remarkable experience while on your tour safari.
